The agreement has the dual objective of promoting responsible behavior in the use of new technologies and training students in managing cyber crises.
TIM and the Cyber Security Italy Foundation have signed a memorandum of understanding to spread cybersecurity culture in schools and to initiate a collaboration that allows studying cyber threats from a Cyber Threat Intelligence perspective. The initiative aims to raise awareness among students, teachers, and families about the conscious use of technology and the security measures to be adopted on the web and social networks.
Specifically, the agreement aims to promote new models of responsible behavior to prevent phenomena such as cyberbullying, child pornography, and identity theft, as well as to stimulate young people’s interest in specialized training for a career in cybersecurity.
“It is essential to foster a digital culture by promoting collaborations between public and private sectors, starting from schools,” said Eugenio Santagata, Chief Public Affairs Security Officer at TIM and CEO of Telsy. “Training in this field is fundamental and constitutes an enabling factor to encourage conscious digitalization. Additionally, providing a constantly updated framework of potential threats and their evolution allows us to raise the level of defense, acting on the most exposed subjects, namely young people, and generally anyone who accesses digital resources.”
“We thank TIM group , represented here today by Dr. Eugenio Santagata, for choosing us as partners in this ambitious project that will once again focus on our young people. Thus continues our journey of raising awareness among the younger generations about the risks of the Internet with the aim of training, from the school desks, conscious, responsible citizens capable of navigating safely. Teaching cybersecurity in schools not only contributes to the training of future professionals in the sector but also promotes a widespread digital culture, which will enable us to effectively face future challenges,” said Marco Gabriele Proietti, founder and president of the Cyber Security Italy Foundation, the first non-profit foundation in Italy dedicated to the cyber world.
The expertise provided by TIM and the Foundation will guide young people through a learning program of IT technologies, basic knowledge, and practical experiences in cybersecurity and the adoption of cyber defense tools.
An additional goal is to direct young people’s interest towards specialized, postgraduate, and university-level training, leading to a professional career in these fields.
With this Memorandum of Understanding, TIM reaffirms how the collaboration between non-profit organizations and technological players can contribute to the development of projects that promote the use of technologies and digital skills for conscious, intelligent, sustainable, and inclusive social growth.
